Part Four - The Turtle
25.
Crow - Well, now what? We are stuck here in the Void with nothing but water and more water. Duck, we could fly, but these two humans have no wings, and they are way too heavy for us to carry.
Duck - We could fly over the water to see what is out there and come back to tell them. How does that sound?
Ernie and Al nodded in unison as the Duck and the Crow flew into the horizon.
Al and Ernie waited - four hours it seemed, but in reality no time had passed. Their minds created the time, as the Void does not deal in time. Hell, if they had listened to the Elf’s wisdom, they would have already solved their own problem. It was not long after Ernie and Al were baking in the sun when they saw the Duck in the distance. The Crow was right beside the Duck, fifty feet or so. The two of them were flying in the other direction - a couple miles east from where Al and Ernie sat. Ernie stood up and whistled a loud whistle to get their attention. No sooner than a moment or so after the whistle did the Duck and the Crow land on the bank next to them.
Duck - Sorry, guys, nothing but water is out there. No land is to be seen. It seems we are stuck.
Crow - Yep, I saw nothing as well.
Just then, a huge wave could be seen rising in the distance. It was as if there was a humongous object climbing out from the depths of the sea. Ernie and Al got scared. The Duck and the Crow just sat there. They all watched it approach. Al and Ernie were very apprehensive of what was to come. No sooner did the anxiety begin to rise up into Ernie and Al’s throats than they were all transported back to the physical realm of Ginotia Main.
26.
If the reader has not yet noticed, it seems that anxiety stops the flow of consciousness and yanks our characters back to the physical plane. Eliminating anxiety is the key to a Be’ers life, and that was what Al and Ernie were having a hard time “doing.” I hope you understand what I mean by all of this. If you don’t, continue reading. If you do, continue reading. Either way, continue reading to see what does prevail.
It was now February 2, 1998 ; Ginotia Main was finally out of its dark, depressed funk, but a new natural phenomenon was starting to occur. Out of nowhere, this huge wave began barreling down the Neptune River on the outskirts of town. Now Neptune was an ancient god that no one seemed to believe in anymore, and only mythology buffs truly knew who he was and the powers he controlled. Today, however, his powers mattered not, and Ginotia Main was in for a wet ride. Ernie and Al started to realize that what happened in the land of the Void had repercussion on the material world in Ginotia Main. The last thing they saw, before being thrown and transported back to the intersection of Vinci and Leo, was a huge wave rising from the vast sea. Here, in Ginotia Main, Neptune roared and reared his godly head to throw a river in their general direction.
Al and Ernie knew they had to get back to the Void before the wave crashed its crest into Ginotia Main. They meditated and returned. The process of coming and going was getting a lot easier for them to handle and control. Well, the process of getting there was easier. It always seemed they were inter-spaced and trans-timed back to the physical plane without their blessing. This was what they realized they needed to work on next. Eliminating anxiety from their beings in order to stay in the Void and comprehend the wisdom of the universe and consciousness.
27.
They returned to the same beach they had left. The wave was still rising. This time, however, they remained calm and clear-headed in order to confront the Void and their anxiety. This was not an easy task as they saw the wave rise higher and higher. But they sat motionless next to the Duck and the Crow.
Just as the wave was about to crest and crash down on their little animal heads, Ernie and Al closed their eyes. Nothing happened. The wave did not hit the shore. The water did not immerse them. They reopened their eyes.
The sea was vast and calm again. It was as if the wave never happened. Yet, what happened next was even more surprising. You see, dear reader, out of the great big sea crawled a great big Turtle. A Sea turtle to be exact. It crawled up onto the shore next to them with the largest smile they had ever seen.
Turtle - Well, hello there. Scared you did I? I had to test your ability to eliminate anxiety before I showed you my true form. I must say, you did very well.
Crow - Why, in the name of the universe, did you have to scare the crap out of all of us?
Turtle - I just told you little one. It was a simple test.
Crow - Simple, ha! You almost destroyed a perfectly good town on the other side of the Void.
Turtle - A simple price to pay for understanding the true nature of things, don’t you think?
Crow - No, I do not think, you . . .
Duck - Okay, okay. Relax, Mr. Crow. All is well now, is it not?
Crow - Yes, but . . .
Duck - No time for but’s. It is time for Al and Ernie now.
Crow - Okay. Okay.
Turtle - Thank you, Mr. Duck. Now I can get on with my wisdom. Here, take these, all four of you, and put them over your heads.
The Turtle reached into the sand and pulled out four helmet-type contraptions.
Turtle - Put them on and climb on to my shell. You will need to wear them where we are going.
The four of them picked up the helmets, put them on, and climbed on to the Turtle’s shell.
Turtle - Hold on tight to the side of my shell. It is going to be a magical, yet informative ride. Are you ready?
The four of them held on to the side of the Turtle’s shell and nodded in unison.
Turtle - Good. Remember, have no fear and eliminate anxiety when it rears its negative head. If you do not, horrible repercussions can happen to you. Here we go!
And off they went. The Turtle turned towards the sea and headed into the water. Soon after, they were under the sea.
28.
Ernie and Al could not believe their eyes. Their entire lives they had wanted to scuba dive, but they had never gotten around to it for lack of time to fit it in to their busy schedules. This experience, however, was better than any scuba diving excursion they could possibly imagine. Under the sea, as they sank deeper, the watery forms began to come to life. They radiated. They glowed. They shimmered. They smiled. It was nothing Al or Ernie had ever seen before nor ever imagined.
The ride down to the bottom was not very long, and everyone sat in silence during the voyage. Even the Turtle swam quietly as to not disturb his passengers from the glory of the scene. When they reached the bottom, the Turtle spoke.
Turtle - All right, voyagers, space-time travelers, conscious beings of consciousness, it is time to get off for a second so I can see you. Did you like the ride? Did you pay attention and soak it all in as the Elf had told you to do? I’m sure you did. I brought you here for various reasons. Duck and Crow, you are just observers from a past experience involved in a present one. Ernie and Al, you two are the reason I am here. You see, I am getting old in my age and do not have very much longer to explain the things I am about to explain. My energy is not as strong as it used to be. So, please, do listen carefully and intently. Do you understand?
Al and Ernie nodded politely. They wondered what this extremely large Turtle was about to say . . .
29.
Turtle - I am sure you two have now noticed the interactions that pertain within the Void and their correlation to happenings in your physical reality. I know you understand that in some way, shape and form everything that exists in interrelated and co-dependent on everything else that exists. I am aware that you must also understand that events just happen, independent of whether you want them to or not, in front of you as the energy from the Void is transformed into forms and beings within your three-dimensional reality back on Earth. Well, it is actually four dimensions back there - three dimensions of space and one dimension of time. And you must also be cognizant of the fact that space and time do not exist except in a Do’ers world. So, Being makes you aware of the Dream. It took you a while to understand that anxiety is the negativity within the Do’ers world that keeps things “going” and shuts off the flow of consciousness within your material realm. The existence of anxiety does not allow any being to subsist as a Be’er completely, and one must overcome that anxiety to truly BE. But you were able to overcome it and are now here directly in front of me, the old Sea Turtle. I know you must be thinking that it is the tortoise that grows old and full of wisdom. But you are mistaken. They may be full of wisdom contained within the physical - upper land-realm, but it is the sea turtles which contain the wisdom of the physical - lower watery-realm. And it is in this realm where one can see what the follies of Man have done. Okay, enough on that. Float up onto my back and grab on to the side of my shell once again. There are a few things you must see to fully experience the rest of what I have to say.
The four of them swam up, grabbed on, and the Turtle began to swim off into the under-water Void. It was hard to see anything under the sea. It was dark. Very dark. Ernie and Al strained to see into the distance, but it was to no avail. They heard a little laugh emanate from the Turtle as they did this.
Turtle - Relax. Let it all come to you as it did on land. You will see it when it comes.
Once again, Al and Ernie did what they were told. And as soon as they began to relax the show started. From out of the crevasses and corners of the deep, strange animals began to appear. Animals that no being had ever seen. Animals longer and larger than the highest and tallest buildings Man had ever fathomed creating. Creatures bigger than the largest whales. Creatures that seemed to just go about their business of survival and subsistence. Nothing concerned them. They just were what they were - creatures of the deep. No one ever bothered them, and they never bothered anyone, except their next meal. It was a fact of existence to eat. One animal giving its energy to the animal larger and quicker than itself. The prey gave its energy willingly to its predator. The prey would try to escape, but once it realized it could not, it gave its predator everything contained within. The prey gave all of the energy it had stored up within its lifetime.
Ernie and Al watched as the prey and predator cycle went on. It was a feeding frenzy in the deep, but it was the cycle of life in its most beautiful form. They were amazed at what they saw. They were humbled by the simplicity in it all.
Turtle - You are beginning to see the way of things. The way of things down here are the same as the way of things up there, on land. The problem on land, however, is that Man has gone beyond the simplicity of existing and has begun to create “things” to occupy his time. And the creations Man is creating are destroying the way of things. Look over there, beyond the coral reef. Do you see anything? Probably not yet, but let me get a little closer for you to comprehend.
The Turtle swam closer to the reef. As they approached, they could see the reef teeming with life. Everywhere they looked, there was life running about. Fish swam. Anemones reached out their arms. Coral grew more and more. Crabs crawled. Eels jumped out of their holes. Sharks twitted about. Dolphins flew by fast. Everything was aglow. There was harmony and more harmony. Then, all of a sudden, the reef became black. The animals began to die. The reef began to shrink. When the darkness cleared, there were only a few fish intermingling within the depleted coral.
The Turtle swam on further through the sea. At various times, Al and Ernie noticed that the feeding frenzies had started to lessen in number. There were fewer and fewer large creatures of the deep. Fish that swam by seemed a tad unusual. Some had three eyes. Others had two heads. Mutation had begun under the sea, but for what reason? Why were the animals becoming less in numbers and why were the creatures of the deep becoming even stranger looking creatures? This was one weird scuba ride thought Al. This was one weird scuba ride thought Ernie.
All of a sudden, there was a huge shock wave from above. The Turtle was thrown crazily into a spin. The Duck, the Crow, Ernie and Al were all thrown from the Turtle’s shell. It took a few moments for the Turtle to gain control and pick up his tiny passengers. The Turtle looked a bit freaked at this occurrence, but shook it off as to not worry his present company. His company, however, had noticed; and, as usual, the Crow was the first to jump into a conversation.
Crow - What just happened?
Turtle - Man happened. Man happened to spill the natural resources of the Earth in places where those natural resources do not belong. Man happened to spill unnatural chemicals he created in places where those unnatural chemicals do not belong. Man happened to take when he did not really need to take. Man happened to get older and find “manly” ways to overcome survival rather than find ways to survive in harmony with the elements. Man has begun his industrialization while his fervor for life is being depleted through war and destruction. Man is searching for gold. Man is searching for money. Man is searching for immortality but does not realize he is already immortal. Man is searching for everything except simple survival and peace. It had to happen eventually with Man being at the top of the food chain without any natural predators. It was bound to happen one of these days. Man was bound to become his own folly. Down here, we’ve just been watching it happen over the years, wondering when all hell would break loose. We’ve been hoping, however, that Man would see his mistakes before he destroyed all of life and start to begin the process of redemption. The future, unfortunately, looks a tad grim with all of the Do’ers winning their man-made wars.
The Turtle could see the confusion on Al and Ernie’s face. After all, the two of them were human. They were both men. How could this Turtle say these things about their race?
Turtle - I see your confusion and understand your hesitancy here. Both of you are men as we all well know. However, you are the first two men to get this far in the understanding of reality and the universe of the Void. I see hope in your eyes. I see different attributes arising out of your species than I have in the past. I see a new breed of Man beginning. Not a Man of dominance and destruction. Not a Man of rational existence and analyzation. Not a Man consumed with the non-existent future, or a Man who dwells on the past. I see a Man of sensation. I see a Man of the present. A Man who sees how Nature works and works with her. A Man of harmony and peace. A new breed of spiritual beings. A new breed of Be’ers who understand the Do’ers’ follies and offer suggestions to change those follies not for themselves but for everyone on the planet. A new breed of beings who want a better life for all species not just a better world filled with materialism for every individual. This is the future Man I see. The men of the past have had their chance; and, even though they feel they have won by doing things, they have not won anything in the course of existence. All they have won is misery and regret while they set up a system that keeps men caged like animals. Animals who are forever striving to survive by being forced into the system of doing. I pray and hope this imparticular system is on its way out and will be replaced by a system that does not forget where Man comes from. Man is an animal, just like the rest of the animals. He has, however, forgotten this fact and has placed himself above the other animals. The new Man must realize he is one and the same as the other animals. The new Man must set up a system where every being is allowed to live freely in the here and now. The new Man must set up a system based on harmony and peace.
Just as the Turtle had finished his speech, Ernie and Al looked up to see where they were going. They realized they were on their way up, out of the water. No sooner than they realized this fact, they were emerging out of the sea. The Turtle rode the waves in to the shore and climbed up on to the beach.
Turtle - This is where I let you all off. It was nice meeting you. I hope you understand where it is I am coming from. As I said, you two are the first humans to get this far. Just keep following the setting sun and you will find your way. Good luck.
The huge Sea Turtle turned his large shell back towards the sea and was swimming out towards the rising moon. In a flash, he was gone.
