As we emerged from the strobe lit room back into the common area, everyone turned to look at us in both surprise and wonder. Nameno was the first to speak.
“Billy, get them each a Quacktail. I’m sure they have much to explain.”
Billy poured Snepal and I a round, and the two of us sat down at a table as the others gathered around.
“We are quite excited to hear your tale,” Nameno began again. “You were only gone a few moments, so I am quite confused as to how much you might have to tell. But please, do begin.”
Snepal looked at me and nodded for me to start.
“I am confused, Nameno,” I stated. “We were gone for quite some time down there. How is it that you say we were only gone for a few moments?”
“I believe you can answer that for yourself, if you think about it later. For now, please tell us everything.”
I thought about it later that night after I explained everything that I remembered to the rest of the Quacks. Each of them sat in awe as I repeated what the voice and console showed us. Snepal added in the parts I forgot, and between the two of us we retold everything that was shown to us. I later realized, after thinking about it as Nameno said, that the limits of time and space did not exist on the other side of the Kaleidoscope Gate as they did here, in the common area - in Reality. It was difficult to admit this, but it was the only explanation that I could muster after such a long day. All of the Quacks were to meet the next night, pick the two beings to reenter the Gate, and delve further into this mystery.
