Humanocracy - Part 2

Jones reached down under the table between us, pulled out some papers, and laid them in front of me.

“If we are going to get started, I might as well throw you directly into the fire,” Jones stated.  “If you want to know what this is all about, the first induction is the Quotable Quackables.”

“Quotable Quackables?  What the hell does that mean?”

“Read these,” Jones said as he slid one of the papers out of the stack and placed it on top.

On the sheet were six quotes.  Well, five quotes and a haiku.  Each was written in different handwriting.

“Read each one carefully, and in order.  Don’t skip around.  This is how all of this came about, and the order is significant.  After you read them, we’ll discuss anything you might want to know.”

I looked down at the paper and noticed that the words were beginning to dance on the page.  I blinked my eyes a couple of times, and they rearranged themselves into a neat order.  The Quotable Quackables were as such:

“Okay, what is this place, the Quack House?” I asked cautiously, as I was well aware of the strange happenings and cults that exist in my land.

“Nothing unusual, I will tell you.  Just the truth.  It’s hard at first, but you begin to get the hang of it.  The really hard part is dealing with the rest of the world once the knowledge starts pouring in.  This absorbing knowledge stuff is easy.”

“Easy?  I don’t even know what is going on!  Can you please explain all of this to me?”

“What is there to explain?  It’s everything you already know.  You just have to accept it and flow with it.”

“I am trying to, but all of this is making my head spin.”

“This information is not making your head spin, it is the Quacktail that is doing the spinning of the mind.  The Quacktail might not be the answer you are looking for, but it is a key, a catalyst so to speak, into the arena.”

“What arena?”

“The arena of, well, I’ll let you see for yourself.  You see that door back there, between the Men and Women’s restrooms?”

“Yeah.”

“Take your Quacktail right now, down the second half of it, and walk through that door.”

“What?”

“Trust me, just do it.”

I downed my Quacktail, wiped my lips with my coat, and headed for the barren door.  I looked back once at Jones, but he just nodded and waved his hands towards the door.  I reached my hand out for the handle, pulled the door open, and walked in.
