Humanocracy - Part 9

Nameno had each of us put our piles down in front of him.  He just nodded to us as we did.  He just nodded at me.  I sat back down and took a huge swig of my Quacktail.  I was going to need it for this.

“Alright, here’s what I’ll do,” Nameno said.  “I will read through each list.  Anxiety first.  Then Sense.  After we go through each of them, do what you want to do.  We’ll vote later after we all feel it has been discussed.”  Nameno picked up one stack of papers and said, “Under Anxiety we have the following: Control, False, Limitation, Control, Mind, Frustration, Past, Future, Mind, Space-Time, and Do’ers.  Under Sense we have the following: Organ, Moment, Here, Now, Moment, Sensation, Reality, Organ, Body, Sense, and Be’ers.  Those are the eleven for each.

After Nameno finished I looked at Jones.  Jones looked back at me.

“Well, what do you think?”  I asked.

“I don’t know, fair son, I really don’t.  All of the words sound the same to me.  However, there were two words I didn’t expect to hear.”

“Oh yeah, what were those?” I asked.

“To better explain, I heard all of the words in the voice’s riddle except Do’ers and Be’ers.  And to tell you the truth, I don’t exactly know what was meant by them.  I wish I knew who wrote those two words down so I could ask a few question in order to get a clearer understanding.”

“Why do you need a clearer understanding?  Don’t the words themselves have any significance?”

“Yes, they do to me.  But what I want to know is what significance they have to the person who wrote them.”

“Ask away then.”

“You wrote those words?”

“Yes, I did.”

“Well, you know more about all of this than I do.  I might have found the Diary, but most of the words I could not comprehend out of their context.  What is the difference between Do’ers and Be’ers?”

“I’m not sure I understand it myself, but those are the words that came to my mind when I had to answer the questions Nameno placed in front of us.”

“You must know the difference if you stated the words.  What do you know?”

“All I know is that those who exist in the past and future are Do’ers.  And those who exist in the present are Be’ers.  The Do’ers are consumed with what they have not accomplished or what they want to accomplish.  The Be’ers are consumed with the moment of reality and what they can sense at the time of each event.  I mean - that’s what I think about all of it, that’s all.”

“Interesting, I must say.  I never thought about it that way.  It makes sense.  Hey, drink your Quacktail, there’s someone I want you to meet.”

I did as I was told.  Jones led me to Billy in order to get another Quacktail.  Then he led me to a table with two fella’s sitting patiently.

“Hey Jones,” a fat man said as we approached.  “Who’s your pal?”

“He’s our fair son, Fanamt.  He’s the one with the answers.”

“Really?  He’s the code cracker for the four parts of man?”

“Yes, he is.”

“Interesting.  Do you mind if I prod his mind for the answers I am seeking?”

“Only if it has to do with the questions at hand.  No crazy personal bullshit, Fanamt.”

“No problem there.  We have bigger fish to fry as we all know”

“Yes, we do.”

Fanamt scoured me over for a minute, but it didn’t take him long to start his questions.  He began, “You must be the one who wrote those two words that stuck out so much, Do’ers and Be’ers, aren’t you?”

“Yes, it was I.”

“Interesting.  So you really must be our fair son.  Where did you obtain all of your knowledge?  I mean, how did you come about this place, this information, this insight?”

“Actually, I just stumbled across this place one day and met Jones in the parking lot.  This information, or insight, just seems to be inside of me.”

“You did not study any of this?  No formal schooling?  No retreats into the woods?  No hiding?  No sensory deprivation?”

“None of that.  I have read the philosophers, the sages, the religious texts, and other New Age artists the world is so fond of at present.  But formal schooling or hiding from society for many years I have never done.  I guess, in a sense, I have been hiding from society while living within it.  The older I got the more introverted I became.  I just absorbed all of the information I read and all of the experiences I went through, and let it all flow through my mind.  Took the middle ground of everything and did not judge, just accepted it all.”

“Well, I’ll be.  Who would of thought all of these new steps would be introduced by a, let’s see, a modern fair son.  I have to say, I cannot wait until you answer the voice’s riddle.  I cannot wait.  I, personally, have never been able to put all of it together.  There is so much information to draw on out there I always get sidetracked.  I always get confused.  But you, you seem to somehow keep it all together in that mind of yours – without even really knowing you are doing it nonetheless.  Physical, Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Do’ers, and Be’ers.  What else lies behind those eyes of yours?”

“That, I suppose, I will not know until the time presents itself for it to come out.”

“I suppose so.  Well, don’t let me keep you any longer.  Thank you for your time.”

“Thank you.”

I started to rise from my seat and then caught the image of the person sitting at the table with Fanamt.  I looked at him, and he just smiled at me as he introduced himself.  “My name is Selmip.  Remember one thing, please.”

“Yes, what may that be?” I asked wonderingly.

“Keep your simplicity.  Keep your mind simple.  Don’t let it get bogged down by all of what is to come.  Believe me, it will be hard, but keep the simple perspective.”

“I will remember.”

Selmip reached out his hand to shake mine and said, “Nice to meet you fair son.”

“Nice to meet you too.”
